Rev. Christopher Thorne

Associate Minister

Reverend Christopher Thorne, born on June 9, 1965, is the youngest of eight children born to Ella Clee and Thomas Thorne. He felt the call to ministry at the age of 22 but only answered it at 36.

In March 2001, Reverend Thorne delivered his initial sermon at New Home Baptist Church and was licensed as a minister in the same month. He was ordained in May 2005, marking a significant milestone in his spiritual journey.

From 2005 to 2021, Reverend Thorne served as an Associate Minister before joining St. Phillips in 2021 in the same capacity. At St. Phillips, he holds multiple key roles, including Assistant Superintendent of Sunday School, President of The Men’s Ministry, and Assistant Director of the Evangelism Ministry.

Currently, Reverend Thorne is pursuing a bachelor's degree in theological studies at Washington Baptist Theological Seminary in Washington, DC.

Reverend Thorne's call to ministry was inspired by Luke 4:18, a scripture that holds deep meaning and significance for him.

Rev. Thorne is a proud father of four children: three sons named Matthew, Nathanael, and Jordan, and a daughter named Angel. His dedication to his faith, family, community, and continuous education demonstrates his commitment to serving others and enriching his knowledge and understanding of theological studies in the context of his spiritual calling.
