Reverend Alfred Wright, Jr., is a native of Washington, DC where he was raised by his parents; the late Alfred Wright, Sr., and Betty Ann Wright, along with two sisters.

He has been married to his lovely wife, Minister Beatrice S. Wright for twenty-nine years. From this union God blessed them with three beautiful children: Alfred III (Kayla), Aaliyah, and Alexis, four grandchildren Alijah, Kingston, William, and Avayah.

Pastor Wright was educated in the Washington, DC and graduated from Archbishop John Carroll High School class of 1989. Upon graduating High School, he began a career with the DC Fire and EMS Department. After more than 30 years, he retired from the DC Fire and EMS Department, in December 2021, in the rank of Captain.

Reverend Wright earned his subsequent Bachelor of Theology Degree in 2013, and earned his Masters of Theology Degree from The Washington Baptist Theological Seminary Class of 2023.

Reverend Wright received and answered the call to the Gospel Ministry in 2008, was licensed to preach the Gospel in February 2009, and Ordained September 2016.

In 2019 he served as the Assistant Pastor, and Superintendent of Sunday school at St. Phillips Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Andre’ H. Owens, Senior Pastor.

Rev. Owens retired in April 2021 and recommended that Rev. Wright be selected to serve as the 15th Pastor of St. Phillips Baptist Church. The installation service took place on July 31, 2021.

Reverend Wright currently serves as the President of the National Capital Congress of Christian Education, the President of the Henry Gaston Scholarship Committee Washington Baptist Theological Seminary Alumni Association and serves on the Board of Trustees for the Washington Baptist Theological Seminary.

Reverend Wright is a family man who believes in the importance of family. He also believes in Community Activism, but most importantly, he is a child of the Heavenly Father, a Disciple, Servant, and true Believer in the Omnipotent Power of God.
